Bangkok Trip Day 3
Last day of the trip
- Woke up early again, and headed down for breakfast
- After breakfast, Julie and I headed back to MBK to stroll around and see if there was anything else we wanted or needed
- Judy and Jean were off to pay a visit to relatives that they have there who were also going to send them to the airport
- Picked up some coin/mobile phone pouches for my sis (4 for THB100 = S$4)
- Had to also get some donuts from Mister Donut for my sis and also for me to take home. They had a pretty good offer too, buy 6 donuts (3 of their "ring" donuts and 3 regular donuts) and you can get this tote bag which is pretty handy for picnics all for THB159 = S$6.40. I ordered that for my sis with an additional 3 cream filled donuts. I got the tote bag for me not her hahahahaha. As for myself, I got 4 cream filled donuts and 4 regular donuts to bring home and another 2 donuts to have for lunch. You're probably wondering what's so great about these donuts, well for one they're really tasty and secondly we don't have dunkin donuts or mister donut in Singapore, only place to get donuts here are from bakeries and they are normally just the regular sugar type ones, chocolate rice topped ones or chocolate and peanut topped ones. NO CREAM FILLED ONES!!!
- Had to rush back to the hotel cos we had to check out at noon. We managed to get back to the hotel at about 12.05 and then had to wait for the coach to the airport.
- Left for the airport at about 1 pm.
- As it was self-check in and Julie had a lot of stuff (her luggage was 40kg!! thanks to her relatives who were sending stuff back), Julie and I arranged to check in with 3 of the tea ladies and another 2 secretaries, making that a total of 7 people and as a group we get an allowance of 140 kg hehehe and as most of them in the group didn't have all that much luggage it all worked out fine for us.
- When were checking in we were told that our flight was delayed because the aircraft that was coming up from Singapore was delayed. We were initially told that it would be a 90 mins delay but when we got to the gate the departure time had changed again and it was now a 2 hr delay from our original departure time. One consolation is that we were given a coupon to get a free meal from one of the cafes/restaurants in the airport courtesy of Singapore Airlines.
- After going through immigration we went for our free meal We decided to choose the restaurant that was listed rather than the cafe cos we figured we'd get something better, which we did. We got a set meal which consisted of a main course, bun, dessert and coffee/tea. I chose the chicken chop with rice and vegetables for my main course, and dessert was a scoop of ice cream.
- After filling our tummies we ended up wandering around the airport waiting for the time that we had to head over to the gate.
- Finally took off from Bangkok at about 6.45 pm (Bangkok time) which would have been the time we were originally scheduled to land in Singapore!!! Finally landed in Singapore at about 10 pm.
- Was so tired that I ended up taking a cab which cost me S$21 rather than the train as I had originally planned on (taxi ride was about 30 mins, train would have been over an hour)
- Funny thing happened with the cab though. The cab driver was telling me that the fare before me had been a radio booking from Woodlands Ave 6 (my street!) to the airport. After he had dropped off that fare he'd stopped to get something to eat at the canteen at the airport and then went to the cab stand to get another fare (me!) and here I was going to Woodlands Ave 6. What was even funnier was that the person he had picked up was from Block 680 which is the block right next to mine!!! Talk about strange.
- Once I got home, I had a shower, enjoyed some of my donuts and unpacked. Finally zonked out at about midnight, which is just as well as I had to go back to work the next day
