Making up for lost time

Well it's been about 3 weeks since I've been back at work and I've been busy like a squirrel collecting nuts just before winter (I don't know where that came from but it's 6.40 pm, I'm still in the office and my brain is fried! Did it make you laugh? If it did, then success!!!)

Like I said, work has been pretty busy and tiring so I normally just head on home to vegetate. If there's nothing good on tv (been watching a lot more Chinese stuff), then I'll be watching a vid, which could be anything from a Korean movie, Hong Kong movie or Japanese drama hahaha. I've started a little collection of Asian dramas hahaha. Getting Korean/Japanese/Hong Kong movies with English subtitles is pretty easy here, it's the Korean/Taiwanese/Japanese dramas that I have problems with. Not easy getting ones with English subtitles (especially Taiwanese dramas). It's getting a bit easier for Korean dramas though. Sometimes you can find the subtitle files on the net and rather than buying the show, I check my local vid store and see if they have it. If they do, then a borrow it, make a copy, add the subs and make my own dvds (thanks to my new dvd burner hahaha). Starting to do that for Korean movies too, rent them rather than buy them, unless I happen to be over at JB where they can be like dirt cheap and I mean like S$4 a movie hahaha.

Going shopping in JB is another thing I'm doing a lot now. Usually go with friends but my main purpose is to check out the vcds/dvds. I only buy the original stuff, too risky to buy pirated ones because they check your bag when you come over. The rule is if it's original and you spend less than RM150 you're ok. I recently got the dvd box set for the original Star Wars trilogy for only RM40/S$18. It costs S$100 for that here!!! I also got a Japanese drama that I hadn't been able to get in Singapore (well not with English subs anyway) for RM33/S$15. The vcd version (only with Chinese subs) costs S$18 here. Bought a couple of other Korean movies also. I usually get romance comedies cos I find Korean romance comedies are really cute, especially ones that involve high school kids. A couple of my faves are "My Little Bride", "My Tutor Friend" and "100 Days With Mr Arrogant".

These days I've been listening to Chinese music more, either the radio or on CD but it tends to be only a couple of artists.

Ok it's 6.55 pm and my brain is really starting to feel drained so I better end here.

Meme----> You're what you eat

aaggghhh I've been tagged...Cor how could you??? Ok have to think about this because anyone who knows me, knows I little pretty simple foods...no need for sauces hahaha

1. Veggies
Given that I like a whole of veggies I thought I'd group them together...love peas, mushrooms, cabbage, corn, carrots, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts and the list goes on...I think the only veggies I don't really like are like beets and bitter gourd hahaha.

2. Beef
Loved in most forms hahaha eg hamburgers, Korean BBQ, in pasta, as steak, etc. I think the main reason why I love beef is cos I don't really get to eat it all that much at home given that my mom doesn't eat beef and the supermarket near my place doesn't sell it, kind of have to go over to the next place to get it.

3. Pasta
Love pasta, love pasta, love pasta....give me angel hair, fettucine, ravioli, spaghetti, you name it I love it.

4. Tofu
Love this in the traditional asian way, as a dish like tofu with veggies or in soup or agadeshi hehehe not into tofu burgers though I do like some veggitarian dishes that are made with tofu

5.Chicken
Well this is a no-brainer right? Don't most people love chicken...or ignore the veggetarians and their chants hahahaha

6. Milo/Hot Chocolate
In case you don't know what Milo is, it's like Ovalatine and in case you don't know that it's kind of like hot chocolate but they call it a food drink hahahaha. Great for fending off the mid morning hunger pangs in a freezing office like mine!

7. Peaches
Love canned peaches but for some unknown reason when I see a fresh peach I'm not interested hahahaha maybe it's the syrup

8. Bread
This woman can leave on bread alone hahaha given me a loaf of bread, some margarine or butter and a jar of peanut butter and I'm set! Love all kinds of bread, either as a bun with some kind of filling (of course what filling makes a world of difference) or just one it's own with a cup of soup.

9. Chocolate
Though I don't love it as much as I used to, I still love it all the same hahahah, fave type of chocolate would have to be Snickers!!!

10. Cheesecake
I'm actually surprised cos I almost forgot about this, chocolate reminded me hehehehe....love cheesecake of course you have to see which type but pretty much love most kinds of cheesecakes.

Ok well that pretty much does it, not sure what it tells you about me though hahahaha...looks pretty balanced diet wise don't ya think? hahahahaha

Now to tag someone....k Sharon you're it!

Happy New Year!

Hope everyone had a great new year - mine was spent chillin' at home.

Well my two weeks of being a "tai tai" are over and I'm back in the office. Been a little busy the first few days what with clearing filing, catching up with work, new work policies (some of which are supposedly to make our life easier but actually don't) and just trying to get back into the flow of work. My sleep timing has been totally screwed up though hahaha but I think it's starting to get used to waking up early again but then here comes the weekend.

Here's an account of my life as a "tai tai"

First week

Most days were spent going out shopping - had to get christmas pressies - and hanging out with Yass and others. Had 2 office lunches to go to, one was firm wide and another was just for my department - very nice, very free hahahaha buffet too! Spent the 2 days before Christmas at home though relaxing given that Christmas day itself was going to be pretty long for me. Got up early and went to church with my dad and then later in the afternoon went over to my sister's place for turkey dinner.

Watched a couple of movies while I was out - The Promise and The History of Violence - sadly they were both pretty crappy!!! The Korean and Chinese vcds I bought were way better. Yes that's my latest craze now hehehehe watching Korean, Japanese and Chinese movies/series. I'm actually hoping to improve my Mandarin so that I can watch my Taiwan series without having to rely on reading English subtitles. Have also been listening to more Chinese music these days...right now my faves are 5566, 183 Club and 7 Flowers. Actually there's a guy in 5566 I like, he's also in 183 Club and also acts in one Taiwan series that I absolute love. His name is Sam Wang Shao Wei...here's what he looks like...

Second week

Most of this week was spent relaxing at home with short visits to Causeway Point (the mall near my home) - mainly to get some movies and cds - with a couple of trips to JB for a spot of shopping. Went once with my friend from work, Julie and once with Yass. Bought a couple of movies while I was over there (not pirated ones the genuine stuff!). Some things are way cheaper over there. I managed to get the original Star Wars trilogy dvd box set for RM40 (S$18) which is a major bargain given that it costs S$100 here! Also got some Korean movies for like RM9 (S$4) each. Also managed to get the dvd set for one Japanese series I like. I've only managed to find the vcd set here but it doesn't come with English subtitles but this dvd set did and it only cost RM33 (S$14.85)!!! I think it's pretty worth it for the 30 min journey it takes me to get over there from my place - luckily traffic wasn't that bad each time we went. I think I'll be going to JB quite often in the future, maybe I'll take a monthly or quarterly trip hahahaha, I'll just take a day off work and pop over during the week so as to avoid the weekend crowds.

Right gotta get back to work now...gab later if I can
