Another messenger service bites the dust

My office is notorious for blocking IM clients as well as sites that offer web based IM clients. Was happily using Meebo as of late but it seems that has been detected too because that site's been blocked as of yesterday afternoon. I blame it on those irresponsible people who happy chat away using the site (quite a number of us use it) but never being cautious when the IS guys are around.

The hunt is on for a replacement but I don't have my hopes up too high.

A full weekend

Well I kept myself really busy over the weekend.

I met up with Bea after work on Friday. We went to Causeway Point for dinner and to look for a luggage (wanted to get a new trolley bag for my BKK trip). No luck on the luggage so after dinner we headed over to my place so that I could change into shorts cos we were heading over to Sembawang for a walk and chat. We ended up walking to and around Sembawang for about 2 1/2 hrs!! It took us 1/2 hr to get to Sembawang and the rest of the time was spent walking around and chatting. Didn't take a rest or nothing. Boy were my calves aching by the time I got home.

On Saturday I stay home for most of the morning/afternoon watching a Korean drama or rather re-watching a Korean drama - My Lovely Samsoon - definitely I good show. After that I decided to head over to Sembawang Shopping Centre and Sun Plaza in Sembawang to look for luggage. No luck either but I did manage to get a DVD box set containing Studio Ghibli archives i.e. 10 movies and 2 short movies. Studio Ghibli are the people who did "Spirited Away" and "Howl's Moving Castle". The box set contained their earlier works in Japanese audio with English/Mandarin subtitles. It's a 4 disc box set and was a bargain for only S$40!!! Got home, cooked dinner (bangers and mash) and watched tv.

On Sunday I went to church as usual but after church I went out with Terena. We initially went to Yishun to look for my $5 shop which is this shop that sells factory rejects for like S$5/S$7/S$10. Sometimes you can find Old Navy and some other brands there. The store at Yishun didn't have much selection so we ended up going to their store in Toa Payoh which had a way better selection. I ended up getting 2 pairs of shorts (Old Navy and Lee Jeans) for S$7 a piece and 2 tees and a polo (can't remember the brand)for S$5 a piece!!! And they didn't have any defects on them either - must of been factory surplus. We spent the rest of the time at Toa Payoh wandering around the stores and had dinner there too. I managed to get my luggage - got a 24 inch bag that came with some big chunky wheels on it for S$37. We also ended up getting pedicures, well I had a manicure and a pedicure while Terena just had a pedicure. Pretty decent price too. If you just wanted a manicure it was S$20 while a pedicure was S$30 but if you had a combo then it was S$39. Managed to get home just after 9 pm which was just in time to watch a Chinese movie - they were showing Jet Li's "Hero".

All the walking around over the weekend really tired me out and I fell asleep within the first 20 mins of watching one of the Studio Ghibli movies.

And that was how I spent my weekend!

Been busy...

with the finishing touches on my other blog...just have to do some decent entries and then start "advertising" it on various places to get visitors.

Once I'm done with that I'm going to transfer my "cookbook" over to blogger because I want to have more control over how entries look. Will keep you updated.

Spent most of the weekend either watching tv/videos (finished watching the Kdrama "My Girl"), doing some video editing on the computer (trying to get my episodes at a good quality but at a small file size - finally found the ideal settings), going to church with my dad and Terena, eating and sleeping.

So how was your weekend?

Been busy...

"Doing what?" I hear you ask...well I've been working on my other blog and I'm just doing the finishing touches to it, it should be up and running in a couple of days...after that I've got to try and "promote" it hahahaha. Thinking on putting Google's Adsense to it to try and earn some money but not sure where I'd put that ads given my current layout hehehe...the main template is up so go have a look at let me know what ya think and where you think I should put the ads and if there's anything I should take out. I have a shoutbox and well I was thinking of taking that out and replacing it with the ads but I like the idea of having a shoutbox too...sigh decisions decisions lol

Also set up an online "cookbook" over at multiply (also linked) where I'm posting up recipes I've come across. May eventually "re-locate" that to another blog over here so that I don't have to go to too many sites to control everything lol.

When I haven't been doing that I've been working and staying "on the ball" at work so as not to give HRB any excuse to have one of his little "episodes".

Happy Birthday Singapore!!

Well's Singapore's 41st birthday and I spent it at my sister's place.

She bought a new pc so of course I had to set it up for her as well as her new 3-1 machine (print, scan and copy). Also had to set up her old scanner and printer in Adam's room. I have to say she got a pretty niffy machine there. It's a Compaq Presario, nice and sleek looking too. In fact her cpu, monitor, keyboard, mouse and 3-1 machine are all colour coordinated lol they're all black and silver.

For my IT services I was given free dinner lol curry chicken with rice.

And that's how I spent my National Day

Why is it?

Why isn't whenever I want a quiet and relaxing weekend I'm busy and everyone looks to spend time with me and when I'm bored at home nobody looks for me???

Followed my sis and her in-laws to Changi beach for a bbq. They were staying over but my sis and I left because we had to go to the cemetery early the next morning. Didn't really do or eat much because they mainly had curry and rendang...too spicy for my liking. Basically chatted with my nephew, my sis, watched my bro-in-law fish (he actually managed to catch a catfish before we left) and watch the planes coming in for landing (we were at the end of the runway). My sis and I left there just before midnight.

Got up early Saturday morning to head to the cemetery. My mom and I met my sis and dad and Woodlands MRT at about 9 am and then headed over to Yew Tee station before getting in a cab to get to the cemetery. It was my poh-poh's (aka my grandma's) death anniversary hence the visit. As usual we also paid a visit to my kong-kong (aka granddad) who's grave is just a short distance away. After our visit, my sis and I went over to Causeway Point (the mall near our homes) to have lunch while my dad headed over to his docs to get his prescription refilled and my mom headed on home.

After lunch and a spot of shopping, my sis and I headed to our respective homes. Later in the afternoon Yass msged to ask if I want to meet up but I was kind of tired cos I had a very strange the night before...I dreamt I was in HRB's room along with 2 other people (not really sure who) and we were doing something on the computer and then just cos I typed something wrong (can't remember what) they started scolding me for being stupid etc (4 letter words were said too) and I started crying...knew it was a dream so quickly woke up but I still had the feeling like I was crying...very strange and very draining.

Sunday was a typical Sunday for me, woke up early, met my dad, went to church. Terena's back from her summer holidays so she joined us in church. After church she and I went for lunch at Causeway Point and to catch. I eventually got back home at about 3 pm, did my laundry and watched tv. Pretty much spent the rest of the day watching either whatever was on tv or a dvd of one of my Japanese drama series'. Had to get up early this morning cos my boss wanted me to do some work at 8 am.

It's lunchtime now and I'll totally knackered!

Met up with Yass

Met up with Yass yesterday evening. It's been ages since we met up seeing as he's running back and forth between here and KL. The last time we met was during the 4th of July carnival (unless of course my memory has managed to blank out another time after that lol).

We were supposed to meet at Borders at about 7 pm. I did a funny or rather a blur thing on my way from the office...for some unknown reason I got off the train at Somerset rather than Orchard (a whole station before), the best part was after I got of the train and started heading up the stairs I thought to myself "something's not right here, these stairs look different" and then I realised that I was at Somerset and not Orchard. Not wanting to look like the fool I was I acted as if that was exactly where I want to get off and then just walked on down to Borders. Good thing it's only a short 15 mins walk (and that's with glancing at the street side shops that had set up) plus I had time to spare given that it was only 6.30 pm.

When I got to Borders I messaged Yass and my friend Liz who was joining us to let them know I was there. Liz messaged back to say that we should go ahead with dinner and she'd catch up with us later. Yass called at about 7 pm to say he was still stuck at Centrepoint (he was meeting a new client) and that he'd be there for another 30 mins. Told him I'd head down that way and meet him at Centrepoint. Took another nice stroll down Orchard Road (this time armed with a thick chocolate shake from McDonalds). Talk about perfect time because just as I was reaching Centrepoint Yass called to say he was done.

After I met up with him we sorted of wandered aimlessly trying to figure out where to go for dinner and finally ended up at Cineleisure food court. I had Japanese food while Yass had chicken rice - not your regular chicken rice mind you, he ordered a 1/2 chicken and 1 rice and proceeded to eat most of it (I stole some hehehe) but remembering to remove the skin in the process leaving behind a "mountain" of chicken skin.

After dinner we walked down Orchard Road heading towards Borders (my third trip) and just basically chatted as we went along. Hung at Borders for a while and then headed on home. It was almost midnight by the time I walked into the house, so after a quick shower, I settled into bed and watched tv till I crashed - which didn't take long.

And that was how I spent my evening
