Been to busy to blog
First off, apologies for the lack of update but I've been so busy with work that I just haven't had the time to blog. Right now it's 7 pm on a Thursday evening and I'm still stuck in the office but just doing some letter folding so I thought I'd try and do a quickie update before heading home.
I'm just going to let you in on the few exciting things that have happened, for the rest of the time it would have been spent doing work or just going home to recover from the long day of work hahaha.
Saturday, Sept 17 2005My friend, Vivien, roped me into joining this contest organised by SMRT (the subway company here) together with her and her hubby. Basically, the gist of the competition was that 3-member teams would be given 8 clues to different locations (either train stations or bus interchanges) and upon arriving at these locations you had to complete a task in order to get a stamp in your race passport. Once you had all 8 stamps you head back to the finish line. There's a twist though, given that the theme of the race is safety and courtesy on the trains, buses and taxis owned by SMRT, if you commit certain violations (such as not holding on to the handrail while riding the escalator) you get a time penalty so even if you were the first time to return you may not be the overall winner if you have time penalties. Basically it's like a combination of Eco Challenge and The Amazing Race.
The race was fixed for October 2 2005 but we had to go for a pre-race brief on Sept 17 2005 over at SMRT Headquarters at City Hall. After the briefing (which was from 11 am till about 1 pm), the three of us (Vivien, her hubby Lee and I) went over to Funan.
To BuzzBuzz - I bumped into your bro not once but twice there lol. He had just gone to Indochine (where Judy works) to take down his art work or something like that. After lunch, we headed over to Bugis cos Vivien wanted to get some zippers and fabric and they're pretty cheap over there.
Friday, Sept 23 2003It seems everyone is roping me into doing things. Got "conned" into doing a photo shoot for some brochure for a new skills scheme for Workforce Development Agency (WDA). You see the woman who parks her car next to my boss' in our office building's car park works for WDA and she's in charge of this new skills scheme and well they needed a pan asian person as one of their models for their brochure and well she thought of me - aak! me a model??!!! Given that it was going to be done during office hours I made her get clearance from my boss in the hopes that he would say "no" but instead he said "no problem" so I ended up having to go for it but hey at least I got out of the office for a few hours. And before you ask, nope I didn't get paid for it but I did get a free lunch and Qistin (the woman from WDA) drove me to the studio and back =)

hereSunday, 25 Sept 2005My mom's birthday. Didn't do much though cos I had spent the day before with her. Ended up having to go into the office after church to do some photocopying. Ended up being there from 2 pm till 9.30 pm!!!
Sunday, Oct 2 2005Race day. We had to register our team between 7.45 am - 8.30 am luckily the race started and finished next to Woodlands MRT which is one station away from my home. There were 3 categories racing, Student, Open Blue and Open Red. Each cateogry had it's own set of prizes. We were in Open Blue and there were a total of 54 teams in that category. First prize was S$1,200 cash plus gifts, second prize was S$900 cash plus gifts and third prize was S$600 cash plus gifts.
The race started at about 9.15 am and we headed off to solve our 8 clues which to tell you the truth were pretty easy. I do another blog entry later on the play by play of the race. All in all we had fun and we didn't exactly leave empty handed. We were all given free tees to wear during the race (had to otherwise you couldn't get on the trains and buses for free hahaha), and some goodies bags at the end which had quite a few things in it. We got to the finish line at about 2 pm which means we took about 3 hrs 45 mins but had to wait till about 4 pm for the results so we headed off to Causeway Point (the mini mall right next door) for some lunch. We had checked in as team 36. Personally I think 36 out of 54 teams is not bad at all and later we found out that the top 3 teams had finished the race in like 3 hrs and 32 mins so we weren't that far off.
After the race I headed on home to recover!
Monday, 3 Oct 2005HRB was in a pretty grouchy mood today. Got a bit cheesed off with me cos I hadn't filed a letter!!! Sorry but I've been a little busy but HRB doesn't seem to think so. Even passed a comment that I was always on the phone - don't see how that's possible when I spend most of the day in the Torture Chamber!!! Even my friend who sits next to me thought that was a weird and wrong comment to make.
TGOT UpdateTGOT has been away in Seattle for a work conference. He left on Sept 27 and got back just yesterday. He was nice enough to message me the night before he left and messaged when he got back yesterday but I haven't heard much from him, probably busy with work or recovering from jet lag hahaha.
OK enough for now...it's now 7.30 pm and I want to go home already!!!
