Sorry for the silence
I know, I know it's been a while since I blogged. To be honest there hasn't been much going on, just the usual - busy with work, watching tv, searching the net for anything on this Taiwan drama series I've fallen in love with - like I said the usual.
Meant to post this link up earlier but never got round to it...remember that photo shoot I had? Well my pic was used on the website created for the training scheme thingy (EEK!) so here's the link...
That training scheme thingy website... go check it out and see me there...hopefully I won't stop people from getting interested in the scheme lol.
Right back to work I go...hi ho hi ho it's off to work I go...
Why am I still here??
Well it's 7.50 pm and I'm still in the office... I should be on my way home or almost home to catch my Taiwan series...actually it'll be ending in about 10 mins but I set the vcr mainly cos I don't think I could of gotten home in time as it starts at 7 pm.
The reason why I'm still in the office is because I'm waiting for Yasser. He msged earlier asking if I wanted to go and see a midnight movie - Harry Potter. Tried to book for a 9.15 or a 10.25 pm show but both are fully booked. He's at the gym at the moment so I'm not sure whether he would want to see the 12.30 am show or not so I'll just wait for him to be done and see what he wants to do. He said he should be done by about 8.30 pm - 9 pm. It'll mean missing Survivor but that's ok, as long as I know who got booted out I'll survive (no pun intended).
Well I'm going to go and chit chat with my friend who's stuck in the office too. Have a good weekend!
I know it's been a day and an age...
since I last posted. Been really busy with work and when I'm not working I'm either watching tv, vcds or dvds (mainly Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese). Yup watching Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese shows and listening to Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese music is my current "obsession" - as defined by Yass!
There's this Taiwanese series that's showing on tv that I absolutely adore, it's called "Prince Who Turns Into A Frog". It's a sweet romantic comedy drama kind of show and the main 4 characters are members of 2 different Taiwan bands - 183 Club and 7 Flowers.
Here's a pic of the two lead male characters. The one on the left is Sam (chinese name Shao Wei and the one on the right is Matthew (but he prefers to be called Ming Dao). Everyone's a little nuts over Ming Dao but I prefer Shao Wei.
When I'm not working or watching tv I've been learning a little bit about video editing. I've learned how to make copies of vcds, dvds, how to compress a video file so that I can burn in on one single CD (handy for dvd movies) and even how to add subtitles to video files. I think all I have left to learn is how to remove embedded subtitles.
I'm thinking of getting a dvd burner, which would be kind of handy cos then I can put more episodes of my fave series on one disc hehehehe. Heard from a friend that he got one (Sony no less) for like S$90! Would probably be a good investment. Must check around and see if I can get a better price.
Right have to go back to work now.
Updates!
Sorry for the hiatus but I've been pretty swamped with work and last week was a funny work week. Monday - work, Tuesday - no work (Deepavali), Wednesday - work, Thursday - no work (Hari Raya), Friday - work, and the weekend prior to that was spent at my sister's place helping her to sew some cushion covers for her house.
Spent most of Thursday relaxing at home watching vcds and tv. Lately I've been hooked on watching Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese shows. One of the local stations here shows a Japanese series on Monday and Tuesday evenings (right now its a series called "Trick 3") and on Wednesday to Friday evenings it's a Taiwanese series (right now something called "A Prince Turns Into A Frog"). In the later part of the evening on Mondays and Tuesday they show a Korean series. The Japanese and Korean shows are usually dubbed into Chinese but all the shows will have English subtitles - hence the reason why I can watch them hehehe. Grown to love a couple of them and have been trying to get copies of the series on DVD or VCD but if and when I do find them, they only seem to come with Chinese subtitles (even the Taiwanese one!!).
I've been searching the Internet for a solution to my problem and I've now figured out a way of adding an English subtitle to the show (provided I have the right software, a copy of the movie file and a copy of the subtitle files). Getting the software is not a problem and it's all freeware (I love freeware), as for the movie files, I can either try and borrow the vcds from someone or a rental store or worse case buy them so that's not a major problem either. The main problem is trying to find the subtitle files. I've managed to get one complete set of English subtitles for one Japanese series I'm interested in (haven't seen it but it stars a Japanese actor I like), and subtitles for the first episode of the Taiwanese series I'm currently watching.
Other than watching these series I've also been watching Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Thai movies. These are easy enough cos they tend to come with English subtitles. Trying to get hold of "Spirited Away" - Cor, I think you've watched that right? - vcd only comes with Chinese subtitles but the dvd comes with English so I'll try and get that. Saw it at one store going for like S$30, another for S$20 and HMV has it for S$15, so will have to go back to HMV to get it, unless of course I can get the English subtitle files then I'll borrow the vcd from my friend Julie and dub it myself hehehehe.
When I've not been watching all this stuff I've been busy with work. A little free today cos my boss is down with the flu so I'm trying to do my "subtitle research" done hahaha. Oh and have gotten into listening to Japanese and Chinese music but normally of stuff I've actually heard before hahaha.
Ok enough of that - can you imagine it's taken me 34 years of living in Asia and being half Asian to actually start becoming more Asian hahahahaha - better go and improve on my Chinese :)
